Google Chrome OS due Next Week!

If TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington is to be believed then Google’s Chrome operating system may be available for download as early as next week. Citing a “reliable source”, TechCrunch indicates an early version of the Chrome OS will arrive with a limited collection of hardware drivers “within a week”. However, Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Google first announced plans for the OS this past summer and had previously said that an early version of the OS would be available this fall. Considering that we’re about two weeks away from the end of fall, a debut next week would hardly be unexpected. If it’s anything like Google’s Web browser, also called Chrome, expect the OS to be fast and a little buggy.

Friend Connect is quite a potent way for website owners and bloggers to become micro-sensitive to visitors. There are many new changes with this service and it allows for a greater amount of information to be shared in the form of interests and hence allowing visitors to find relevant people and websites online.

How will Friend Connect help?

Friend Connect will allow visitors on a website to share information through member gadgets and can have relevant ads from Google Adsense using information taken with the various interactive web gadgets. For example if you put up Nokia

How will Google Wave make money?

Posted by admin | Posted in Google, Misc | Posted on 28-10-2009

Gogole_waveSince Google has given a demo of Google Wave, the internet has be abuzz about Google Wave being the next big thing on the web. The excitement was great and sometimes a little premature as many have exclaimed that Google Wave might change the internet as we know it. The question that lingered in my mind was how was Wave going to be be monetized?

How is Google going to make money out of Google Wave?

I came across an article online that Google has announced that they might start an App store once Google Wave takes off. I thought this is little premature, considering Google has not even specified the exact date or month when Wave will be available for everyone and not just people invited to use and test it.

Google announcing there might be a App store says two things.

  • Google seems to be pretty confident of Wave being more than just a fancy mash up of wiki, blog, email and chat. Wave has been called a protocol, and obviously they feel with the initial feedback that developers will want to create and sell apps online on a revenue sharing basis.
  • An App store is probably the best way to monetize Google Wave. Just take a look at Apple, they make almost a billion dollars with the Apple App store. They have had over 2 billion downloads of from the App store. Apple App store is used by only users of Apple products and that is significantly lower by multiples than the number of people who use Google or might end up using Wave. So if everything goes right the amount of money Google Wave might end up making for Google is anyones guess.

Google Chrome adds new look to its themes.

Our readers who are using the Chrome browser maybe aware of themes Google provides with their browser. One can easily change how the browser looks with a lot of different themes to choose from. But yesterday Chrome has gone further. They have an artist section along with their in house section for themes.

The screen-shot of the theme I downloaded from the artist section…

How to activate a theme on Chrome?

  • First make sure you have Chrome’s latest version which is Chrome 3.0.
  • The go to Options and then under the tab ‘Personal Stuff‘ click on “Get Themes” as shown in the images below.

  • This will take you to the Theme Gallery which is online. There you get to choose which theme you want to apply to the Chrome Browser. The new addition made yesterday is the Artist Section which allows you to apply artistically designed themes which are not necessarily plain and simple but quite eye catching.

I do wonder if this will open the door for users to customize the theme as they want on Chrome in the future? Now that would be quite a feature.
